Ambassador & Board Director

Kim is indebted to family, friends and mentors who’ve supported her through the good times, and challenging times, and who continue to love and guide her.

Her parents are her biggest champions, and she credits them for her unwavering sense of social justice, strong work ethic and “pay it forward” approach to life.

As a police reporter for much of her journalism career, Kim witnessed and shared stories exposing the very worst and the very best of humanity.

She is often asked, “Who is the most famous person you’ve interviewed?”. While Kim has sat down with world leaders and global stars in the entertainment, business and sporting worlds, it’s the everyday people doing extraordinary things who have a firm place in her heart.

People like Bruce and Denise Morcombe who’ve turned an unthinkable tragedy into a legacy, saving thousands of young lives and educating millions more. Kim is a proud Ambassador of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Act For Kids and is passionate about working in the child protection, and domestic and family violence spaces.

She is also a board member of LiteHaus International and a member of the Children’s Hospital Foundation Legacy Advisory Board, as well as a friend to many Queensland-based organisations, donating her time and professional services, including: Little Stars Foundation; Protea Place; Share The Dignity and Queensland Gives.

Survivor Advocate Trainers - Kim Skubris, Caylie Jeffery & Kerry Forsythe

Advocacy Coach

Kim and friends, Caylie Jeffery, an accomplished author, narrative therapist and public speaker, and Kerry Forsythe, who specialises in digital marketing and graphic design, are proud to work with Beyond DV to empower survivors of domestic and family violence to find their voice and share their stories.

Facilitating the Inspire2Aspire  Survivor Advocate Program is very close to the trio’s hearts and Kim feels honoured to link arms with Caylie and Kerry to continue this life changing work. They often reflect that they learn just as much as the Survivor Advocates about life and resilience.

Community Engagement

Kim is passionate about her local neighbourhood in Brisbane’s inner city and loves supporting her community. She connects easily with like-minded locals and friends to assist and drive campaigns in times of need.

In a nutshell, Kim is drawn to causes, challenges and campaigns involving children, women, family, community and education.

She is determined to continue doing what she can, in any way, big or small, to help make a positive difference.
