As a senior news journalist, Kim spent decades covering natural disasters, conflict, industry sabotage and cyber security threats across the world, and closer to home.
This unique experience has proven critical as she now draws on her extensive media knowledge to guide organisations and government agencies from a communications perspective during times of crisis.
Kim also prepares organisations and individuals, in the event of a crisis, threat or disaster and emphasises the importance of getting in front of the message and driving the dialogue internally with team members, and externally with key stakeholders, authorities and media outlets.
Kim also works closely with Queensland’s 77 local councils through Local Government Association Queensland’s Peak Services.
In this role she has co-ordinated communications responses liaising with media outlets, government organisations, and disaster recovery and aid agencies for a broad range of natural disasters and events, including the 2019 great flood in Queensland’s North West and Cyclone Jasper in the Far North in 2024.
