As a senior news journalist, Kim spent decades covering natural disasters, conflict, industry sabotage and cyber security threats both across the world, and closer to home.
This unique experience has proven critical, as she now draws on her extensive media knowledge to guide organisations and government agencies during times of crisis, from a communications perspective.
Kim also prepares organisations and individuals, in the event of a crisis, threat or disaster, emphasising the importance of getting in front of the message. She facilitates an internal dialogue with team members, and external messaging with key stakeholders, authorities and media outlets.
In her work with Queensland’s 77 local councils through Local Government Association Queensland’s Peak Services, Kim has co-ordinated communications responses. She liaises with media outlets, government organisations, disaster recovery and aid agencies for a broad range of natural disasters and events, including the 2019 flood event in Queensland’s north west, and Cyclone Jasper in the far north in 2024.
