COACHING

IN PERSON OR ONLINE

For 20 of her 25 years as a broadcast journalist, Kim Skubris has been a media trainer and coach working with corporations and not-for-profit organisations around Australia and world-wide.

Kim delivers one-on-one, and group workshops to show clients that they can be powerful communicators, can overcome their fears of being in the spotlight, being pounced on by a journalist, or unravelling in times of crisis.

Kim ensures her training is practical, entertaining and easy to digest, and works with camera operators she has known for decades “on the road”. Her workshops are not death by powerpoint or bogged down with information booklets!

Kim is one of Australia’s leading media trainers, her workshops are carefully crafted to her clients’ needs.

Coaching and Training Topics.

Comedian, Jerry Seinfeld, famously said, “I’d rather be in the coffin than delivering the eulogy”, and Kim knows just how he feels!

In fact, two-thirds of the world’s population suffers from “Glossophobia”, which is a fear of public speaking derived from the Greek words, “glossa” (tongue) and “phobos” (fear). After decades working on stage, and in live television, Kim has mastered the art of owning nerves, mindset, voice delivery and body language.  She now loves teaching people how to own their audience and be powerful public speakers.

Public speaking is theatrical and all about mastering deliberate movements while making them appear effortless and impromptu. No pressure!

Kim helps people overcome their fears, nerves, imposter syndrome and limiting beliefs to realise their dreams, whether it be applying for a job which involves reporting to a Board, or being an M.C. at a best friend’s wedding!

Her face-to-face and online individual sessions and group workshops empower participants to confront their fears, find their stories, share in a safe and non-judgmental environment and most importantly, have fun!

Kim works with a broad spectrum of businesses and industries, from Local and State Government departments, finance, construction, environment, utilities, risk management, not-for-profit and charities.

Kim explains why “Facts tell, Stories Sell” when building a personal or professional brand, engaging community or strengthening customer relationships and why storytelling is such a powerful communications skill to master.

Kim’s workshops include:

  • How to construct a memorable message and speech
  • The science behind storytelling – why it is so powerful for communications
  • The importance of knowing your story, audience and connection
  • How to capture your audience’s attention in the critical first 10 seconds, and hold it!
  • Where do you find stories?

Drawing on decades of experience as a senior journalist covering some of Australia’s biggest stories and yarns worldwide, Kim is a trusted and sought after media trainer who works globally across an extensive range of industries, government agencies, businesses and leaders from all walks of life!

Kim’s workshops are engaging and hands-on. They are designed to ensure all participants put learning into practice during mock on-camera interviews, practising radio “grabs” and soundbites, and creating punchy messaging for media quotes.

Kim, Shaun and Katy guarantee confidentiality while supporting individuals and organisations with sensitive information and real-life scenarios.

During 2020, Covid forced millions of people online to face dreaded Zoom and Teams calls, staring at a tiny, sterile camera lens on their computer screens.  At that time, it was an icebreaker to poke fun, in good humour, at tech stuff-ups, pets behaving badly (or flatmates!) bad lighting and framing, and participants refusing to turn on their cameras!

But not anymore. Presenting online is now part of everyday business. If you aren’t owning your online presence, you shouldn’t be online.

During her snappy two-hour online course, Kim shares the folowing ionsights:

  • How to own a large unseen audience online
  • How connect with individuals
  • How to be professional with the technolgy
  • The importance of framing, sound, and lighting
  • Where to look down the barrel of the lens
  • Personal mindset.

The course is fun, empowering and interactive. By the end of it, you’ll not only be owning your online presence but also enjoying it!
